Yes, it's been almost a month in country. For all that don't
know I flew into Iraq
on one of our Blackhawk’s on my birthday, 7 Sep. Pretty darn cool!! It was very
hot at first but I began to get a little used to it. Now I am doing maintenance
on the aircraft at night, 1900-0700. It is cool here at night, almost downright
chilly. It's kinda hard to do some work under flash
light as we have to have 'light discipline'. Meaning as very few outside lights
as possible. Even though they almost certainly have us dialed
in. So far there has not been any 'excitement' to speak of. There has
been a couple of bad incidents, but you'll have to get info from the news, (operations-security).
The Brits have done an excellent job of cleaning out and shooing away the bad
guys. This base camp is mainly a British concern and us
Americans are right now just a small group. The food and shoppette
items are geared toward their tastes. Not always a bad thing. This is a very
small camp. I have been told that soon I will go to days to complete some
training and start crewing on flights. Yee-haw, ultra cool!! I will update
y'all later when that happens. I will also backtrack to get y'all up to speed
on how I got here. GTG (to sleep)
